The UK South East Asia Chef of the Year Competition
The UK South East Asia Chef of the Year
Competition was held on Monday 12th October 2015.
The event was hosted by the PACE North East Regional Chair Hayley Lomas and her
team from Bradford College.
The first round of the competition was a paper based entry.
The eight finalists were from various restaurants in industry, plus there was
representation from the FE College sector from Leeds City College.
On the day the finalists were tasked with producing three main course dishes
each in two and a half hours.
Specifications included the production of one lamb or one vegetarian dish plus
one innovation dish using chicken, and finally a healthy dish using seafood.
The first prize winner to be awarded was £2000, the second was £1000 and the
third prize is £750. Also two special awards are to be presented for innovation
and the production of a healthy dish.
Standards on the day were extremely high. The food produced looked delicious
and the the various aromas were tantalising.
There was much deliberation by the judges over the well produced dish items. The judges were Andrew Green (Chair), Stephanie Moon And Stephen Gomes.
The awards were due to be announced and presented at the Aagrah Annual Charity
Business Celebration Black Tie Dinner attended by 750 guests this evening,
Monday 12th October 2015.

In second place was Kevin Hughes
In third place was Bishal Rasaily
The award for Innovation went to Rehan Ahmed
The award for the Healthy dish went to Ranjit Raju Salian
